Despite Solid Effort by Wagar, Redmen Lose in Peterborough

June 10, 2010
Peterborough, ON

Kurtis Wagar seems to play his best in Peterborough and tonight was no different despite a 12-7 win for the Lakers. Reports from the rink were that he played a solid game in net as Peterborough peppered him with 56 shots, compared to 43 for the Redmen on Angus Goodleaf who the Redmen actually drafted in the St Regis dispersal draft.

The Redmen scored first as another dispersal product, this time from Barrie, Caleb Wiles scored. The tally after one was 5-4 for Peterborough.

The Redmen tied and got the go-ahead goal in the middle frame before the Lakers went on a three-goal run for the 8-6 lead after two periods. Brooklin closed the gap to 8-7 before a four unanswered by the Lakers, including a natural hattrick to John Grant to end the game to give the Lakers (5-0) the win and to send the Redmen (2-2) back to .500 on the season.

The Redmen have little time to recover as the Brampton Excelsiors come to IPSC tomorrow (Friday) night, the two time defending Mann Cup champs (4-3) are coming off a 10-8 win over Ajax Pickering tonight at the Powerade Centre.

Scoring – Brooklin – Wagar (0,1), Gillis (1), O’Brien (0,2), Adamson (0,1), Holman (1,1), Wiles (1), Hopcroft (1,2), Collins (0,1), Brownell (2,1), Campbell (1)
