Some LITG Fun – Congrats To The Nats!

After a really long, long, I mean long weekend for Paul Stewart, success could not have come at a better time. After coming up short in a heartbreaker in the Founders Cup final where he is an Assistant Coach with the Clarington Green Gaels, Stewart hopped aboard a plane and travelled down to Annapolis, Maryland, where he could assist the Toronto Nationals. The Nationals were playing their MLL Championship game Sunday against the Denver Outlaws.

And much to the delight of many local lacrosse Fans, Whitby’s own Shawn Williams scored the tying and winning goals late in the 4th quarter for the 10-9 Nationals win.

After being through the emotional highs and lows of the last 4-5 days, Stewie was still able to joke with me when sending me these pictures. You see the two best friends (Williams left – Stewart right) played in the LITG Co-Ed lacrosse league last Fall (all for fun), and when they came up short in their semi-final game, Stewart stated that the two were “devastated”. This Nationals win in Annapolis last Saturday he says, has given them both one to savour.

Williams is still in action with the Brampton Excelsiors. The Excels are currently leading the Peterborough Lakers 3-2 in the best of 7 Eastern Final. The winner will travel to British Columbia to compete for the Mann Cup.

  1. And if people think the reffing at the Founders was fixed they should have been at that LITG semi!
