Fratmen Outlast Sarnia 9-6

Windsor AKO FratmenThe Windsor AKO Fratmen defeated the bottom dwelling Sarnia Pacers 9-6 Tuesday night at Forest Glade Arena. The win improves the Fratmen to 10-2 on the season. The Sarnia loss drops them to 2-11-1.

The Fratmen had two goals each from Ken Greer, Tyler McDowall and Brett Hickey. Singles were added by Steve Hinek, Daniel Turner and Steve Weingarden. Brendan Stevenson recorded his sixth win of the season in goal for the Fratmen, stopping 29 of 35 shots

In other league news, the western conference leading Six Nations Rebels have been stripped of three wins for the use of an ineligible player. The player in question had been registered with the ILA, and had not been properly released to the OLA. The games involved were the first three games of the season for the Rebels against Wallaceburg, Welland and Niagara on the Lake. The Rebels now have a record of 10-4.

The league All-Star game is just around the corner, and the Fratmen will be sending three players. They will be sending a goaltender and two position players. The names will be announced later this week. The All-Star game is being co-hosted by the Fratmen and the Sun County Crows Minor Lacrosse Association. The game will be played on Saturday, June 20th at the air-conditioned Heinz Arena in Leamington. Game time is 7:00pm. The event is aimed at increasing interest in Lacrosse in Essex County.

Next up for the Fratmen is a trip to Wallaceburg on Friday night to close out the season series with the Red Devils. The Fratmen lead the season series 3-0. Game time is 8:30pm. The Fratmen will return home for a Saturday night tilt with the Hamilton Bengals. Game time at Forest Glade Arena is 7:00pm.
