Six Nations Rebels Junior B LacrosseThe 3-time and current Back-2-Back Founders Cup and J.A. MacDonald Trophy champions, Six Nations Rebels extended their current regular season winning streak to 34-games with a 9-6 win over the Guelph Jr B Regals Sunday afternoon at the Sleeman Centre. The win also gave Rebels head coach, Stew Monture the franchise record for most career wins at 42 surpassed the Rebels original head coach, Vince Hill who had 41 wins in three years at the helm from 1996 to 1998.

The winning streak dates back to a 12-11 overtime loss to Windsor AKO Fratmen on May 25, 2007. The Rebels last regulation game loss during the regular season was an 11-10 loss to Niagara Thunderhawks 42-games ago back on April 28, 2007.

The Rebels started Cody VanEvery in goal while Richard McGarr started for the Regals. Guelph got the early jump with goals by Lucas Vanderwilp and Jesse White for a quick 2-0 lead with a little over 5-minutes past. Rebels coaching staff replaced starter, VanEvery with backup, Don Alton for the final 14:57 of the 1st period. Rebels captain Marty Hill scored a shorthanded marker at 7:47 to cut the lead in half. Regals Jesse White upped the lead to 3-1 before the end of the first on Alton. Both team had 12 shots each in the first period. The Rebels had goalie, VanEvery back between the pipes to start the 2nd period which turned out to be all Rebels as they would score five unanswered goals. Ryley Johnson got things going with a power play marker at 7:07, Torrey VanEvery tied the game with a shorthanded effort just past the midway point of the second. Jesse Johnson put the Rebels ahead for the first time in the game at 13:38 while Kyle Isaacs made it a hat-trick of shorthanded goals for the Rebels at 14:57. Torrey VanEvery notched his second of the period with 2.6 seconds left on the clock for a 6-3 Rebels lead after 40-minutes of action. Six Nations outshot Guelph 18-13 in the middle frame.

In the third period both teams would score three times each. Lucas Vanderwilp would score all the Regals markers while the Rebels got the game-winner by captain, Marty Hill. Torrey VanEvery completed his hat-trick and Kraig Maracle fired a power play goal. Guelph outshot Six Nations 15-10 in the third to finish 40 shots each for both teams on the contest.

The Rebels were led by Game MVP Torrey VanEvery (3G, 2A) and captain Marty Hill (2G, 3A) with five-point games each. Alex Kedoh Hill (3A) had a hat-trick of assists. Kyle Isaacs (1G, 1A) and Pete Hill (2A) had two-point games apiece. Single Rebels points were by Ryley Johnson (1G), Jesse Johnson (1G), Kraig Maracle (1G), Jason Johns (1A) Clark Robinson (1A), Jesse Sault (1A) and goalie Cody
VanEvery (1A).

Regals were led by game MVP Lucas Vanderwilp (4G, 1A) with a five-point game. Jesse White (2G), Bobby Vandersluis (2A) and Cody Brown (2A) all had two-points each. Single Regals points were by Kevin Wallace (1A) and Matt Pelkey (1A). The Rebels will host a rematch of the 2008 OLA Jr B Western Conference Final when Elora Mohawks invade the Gaylord Powless Arena Friday, May 8th for an 8:00 p.m. start. Guelph will travel to Elora Community Centre to battle the Mohawks Wednesday night for an 8:00 PM start.
