Wings Top Rush 14-9

As reported by Bruce Barker

It was a good news / bad news kind of night for Edmonton Rush owner Bruce Urban.

The good news….his $1 ticket promotion brought in a record crowd of 14,710 to Rexall Place.

The bad news….the Rush lost 14-9 to the Philadelphia Wings as Merrick Thomson scored 6 goals and set up another while former Rush players Mat Giles had a 5 point night and A.J Shannon scored 4 goals against his old team.

Andy Secore had his best game in a Rush uniform scoring 4 which included a pair of behind the net moves on Wings netminder Brandon Miller.

The expected tilt between the Wings Geoff Snider and Edmonton’s Ryan Mc Nish failed to materialize despite the fact that the pair were on the floor to start the game and the buzz in the building was that the 2 would ” dance ” right off the opening face off.

With the loss Edmonton goes into the all-star break with a 3-6 record and have a huge game on March 13th at home when they host their provincial rivals the Calgary Roughnecks. That night Urban has asked for a BLACK OUT of Rexall as fans are requested to wear black to the game.
