Strong Fourth Quarter Leads Mammoth Past Minnesota 13-8

ST. PAUL, MN – The Colorado Mammoth outscored the Minnesota Swarm 5-1 in the final frame on route to a 13-8 road victory in front of 11,174 fans at Xcel Energy Center Saturday night. With the victory, Colorado improves to 3-2 on the season while Minnesota falls to 2-3.

Two minutes into the fourth quarter, Minnesota’s Ryan Ward would tie the game 8-8 beating Mammoth netminder Andrew Leyshon for his team leading 10th goal of the season. For the remainder of the contest it was all Colorado, as they scored five goals over a seven minute span led by the performances of Gavin Prout (3G, 3A) and Brian Langtry (2G, 4A) who led all scorers with six points each.

Colorado’s Gary Rosyski and Jamie Shewchuk both contributed with two goals and two assists each while rookie Matt Danowski rounded out the Mammoth leaders finishing with three helpers in the victory. In his first game in a Colorado uniform, Andrew Potter recorded his first goal of the season.

For the Swarm, Ward led the offense with two goals and three assists for five points. Dan Marohl recorded four points adding two goals and two assists while Craig Point, Kevin Buchanan and Kevin Ross all chipped in with a goal and two helpers in the loss.

In goal, Leyshon recorded 41 saves for the victory. Minnesota’s Nick Patterson suffered his second straight loss in as many nights finishing with 17 saves on 24 shots.
