San Jose Rolls Past Rush 16-6

San Jose StealthThe San Jose Stealth improved to 2-3 on the season as they defeated the Edmonton Rush by the score of 16-6 at home Saturday night. The Stealth led by just two at the half 5-3, before breaking it open with 11 goals in the second for their biggest win of the season.

In the third quarter, San Jose opened with four straight goals, including two from Cam Sedgwick, to take a commanding 9-3 lead with just over six minutes left in the quarter. Sedgwick led all scorers with four goals and two assists for a season high six points. Curtis Hodgson (2G, 2A),  Tom Johnson (2G, 2A) and Colin Doyle (1G, 3A) all contributed with four points each. Paul Rabil (2G, 1A), Rhys Duch (1G, 2A) and Jeff Zywicki (1G, 2A) rounded out the San Jose leaders as they all chipped in with three points each in the victory.

For Edmonton, Dan Teat added a goal and two assists for three points. Andy Secore (2G), Ian Hawksbee (1G, 1A), Mike Hominuck (1G, 1A) and Ryan Benesch (2A) recorded two points each in a losing effort.

In goal, San Jose’s Matt Roik recorded 35 saves for the victory. Edmonton’s Chris Levis suffered the loss allowing 12 goals on 43 shots.

Notes:
– both teams were 2-for-5 on the power play
– Edmonton’s Chris McKay recorded 15 loose balls for his third straight game
– San Jose’s Eric Martin added a season high 15 loose balls
