Six Nations Rebels Junior B LacrosseOHSWEKEN – The defending J. A. MacDonald Trophy winners as the Ontario Jr B champions, Six Nations Rebels defeated the Wallaceburg Red Devils 17-2 Wednesday night at the Gaylord Powless Arena before 443 fans to sweep the Western Conference Quarter-Final series 3-0 and advance to the Western Conference Semi-Final series.

The Rebels finished the year winning 29th consecutive regular season games in a row dating back to May 25, 2007. But the streak additions do not end there as it was the Rebels 41st win in a row dating back to a Western Conference semi-final loss to Owen Sound Rams during the OLA Jr B playoffs last year.

Randy Johnson got the start for the Rebels and Matt Glover was in goal for the Red Devils. Wallaceburg opened the scoring when Kyle VanDamme bounced a shot under the cross-bar 3:26 into the game. The Rebels responded with three markers from Randy E. Johnson, Cody Johnson and Kraig Maracle (eventual game-winning-goal) before the Red Devils Justin Belanger netted an unassisted goal at the 13:56 mark. That would be the last shot to get past Rebels goalie Randy Johnson on the night. Brent Longboat and Maracle would add goals late in the first for a 5-2 Six Nations lead after 20-minutes of action. Six Nations outshot Wallaceburg 28-8 in the opening period.

The second stanza was all Rebels as they got goals from Cody Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Andy Jamieson, Jesse Sault (a pair), Marty Hill, Ryley Johnson and Russell Longboat for a 13-2 Rebels lead after 40-minutes. The Red Devils switch from starter Matt Glover to Bob Smith at the 9:34 mark of the second period after the Jesse Sault 1st goal of the second period. Six Nations was outshot by Wallaceburg 26-11 in the second period.

In the third, it was the Cody Johnson show as he scored a hat-trick (5th of the contest) and assisted on the Kraig Maracle hat-trick marker. Six Nations outshot Wallaceburg 20-6 in the final frame and 74-25 for the entire contest.

Rebels were led by Cody Johnson with an 8-point (5G, 3A) game. Stu Hill added six helpers on the night. Kraig Maracle (3G, 2A) and Marty Hill (1G, 4A) had five-points each. Andy Jamieson contributed four points (1G, 3A). Jordan Johnson kicked in with a three-point (1G, 2A) effort. Jesse Sault (2G), Ryley Johnson (1G, 1A) and Elijah Johns (2A) enjoyed two-point games apiece. Single Rebels points were by Randy E. Johnson (1G), Brent Longboat (1G), Chancy Johnson (1A), Clark Robinson (1A) and goalie Randy Johnson (1A).

The Red Devils were led by Kyle VanDamme and Justin Belanger with one goal each.

The Rebels now advance to the Western Conference Semi-Finals which is set to start Friday, July 11th at 8:00 p.m.
