Day 4 Nationals Summary and Playoffs All Set

Well all of the round robin games have been played, and the stage has been set for some real great finishes to the 2007 Nationals.

In the Bantam division the only two remaining undefeated teams met tonight; Ontario and Alberta. This game started out with some great pace and gave me the feeling it was gonna be exciting. And for the most part it was. Alberta has got some boys that can blaze down the floor, and they’ve also got skill players. What I am excited about though for them is that their goaltending is very solid as again was shown in both games today. In this game, both teams battled hard, and in the end Ontario came out on top 10-4.  However, it is worth noting that while both teams today played their typical two games today, Alberta earlier in the day had a pretty tough game against British Columbia, which they won 3-2 (ensuring themselves at least 2nd place).

What this sets up now is as follows:

Ontario finishes first, while Alberta and Iroquois finish second and third respectively. These two play tomorrow for the right to go to the “A” Gold Medal game on Saturday. The loser of this game plays in the Bronze Medal game against British Columbia. Saskatchewan goes into the “B” Gold Medal game and will play the winner of Nova Scotia vs. Manitoba.

On the Peewee side of things, Ontario finishes first overall, while British Columbia and Alberta finish second and third respectively. These two will play tomorrow and the winner advances to the Peewee “A” Gold Medal game on Saturday against Ontario. The loser will face off against Team Iroquois for the Peewee Bronze Medal. New Brunswick will go to the “B” gold Medal and face the winner of Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan while the loser will play against Manitoba in the “B” Bronze Medal game.
