Late Game Reports at Nationals

In the 2nd half of the day at the Peewee / Bantam Nationals, the talk of the night was the Ontario Iroquois matchup.  Back and forth with both goalies playing really well, the game ended tied at 4.  A sudden death overtime period followed of five minutes, with both teams having a few chances, but both goalies having no part of an ending that soon.

The air in the Legends Centre Pad 3 was getting quite thin, with a packed house lined up two and three spectators deep along the outer glass.  The players were visibly tired and in between period ends and Overtime ends you could see many of them crouched over with a look of exhaustion over their faces.

Into the 2nd Overtime we went, this time a 10 minute period.  Again both teams had a few chances to seal the victory, with the goalies making some nice saves along the way.  Then roughly 4-5 minutes into the second Overtime, Ontario’s Seth Griffiths became Ontario’s hero of the night scoring on a partial breakaway for the win.

In Bantam, B.C. and Alberta have both moved to 2 wins and 0 losses along with Ontario, while in Peewee Ontario and B.C. are now both at 2-0 as well.

I’ll tell you if the next five days are like today was, we are in for a real treat!
