Redmen Drop One in Overtime on the Road

The Brooklin Redmen are in a fight for the final playoff spot in Major Series Lacrosse. A mere three points separates the Redmen from the Kitchener Waterloo Kodiaks for the distinction of being the team on the outside looking in come playoff time in a few weeks. The Redmen and the Kodiaks are set to meet this weekend in a home and home series.

The Redmen travelled to the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Ohsweken tonight for a game against the 5-8 Chiefs. Matt Roik made his debut in the Redmen net after a trade last week. Tyler Perry and Bobby McBride also played their first game’s in a Redmen jersey, Perry had four helpers and McBride scored and helped out on another. Mike McLellan made his return to the line-up with a goal and an assist.

The Redmen had leads of 5-4 after one, 11-9 after two only to find themselves knotted at 12-12 after regulation. The Chiefs took the overtime frame 3-0 for the 15-12 win and always important two points.

Scoring – Brooklin – Williams (4,3), Hoar (2,2), Taylor (2,3) Reed (1), Mike McLellan (1,1) Greer (1,1), McBride (1,1), Perry (0,4)

Scoring – Six Nations – Vyse (2), Squire Hill (2,4), Powless (2,2), Montour (2,2), Dean Hill (2,4)

Penalties on the night were 34 minutes to Brooklin and 32 minutes to Six Nations.
