Redmen Continue to Shuffle the Deck in Attempt to Put Best Hand on the Table

The Brooklin Redmen have only six games left in the 18 game Major Series Lacrosse League regular season. At this point, they hold on to the final playoff spot. In an effort to improve on a disappointing 2-9-1 season the Redmen pulled off a number of trades this weekend.

It all started late last week in a previous release as Steve Toll was sent to St. Regis for Troy Bonterre and Frank Resatarits. The Redmen announced a number of further deals today as the 25 man roster deadline is here for all teams.

The Redmen sent their 2007 first round pick David Lomas and their first round pick in 2009 to Kitchener Waterloo in exchange for goalie Mike Attwood. In part two of that deal, the Redmen packaged Mike Attwood and Chris Driscoll and they went to the Barrie Lakeshores for goalie Matt Roik, Lindsay Plunkett and Tyler Perry. Neither Lomas nor Driscoll had dressed for the Redmen to date in the 2007 season.

In a further deal over the weekend, Brock Boyle was sent to the Brampton Excelsiors for Bobby McBride, Luke Forget and a first round pick in 2008. As well, the Redmen announced that goalie Steve Dietrich was released to the Ajax Pickering Rock, as they will start their playoff run this weekend. The Redmen retain Dietrich’s Major Series Lacrosse playing rights.

Bonterre, Roik and McBride were all in attendance at practice tonight to meet their new teammates.

Three of the final games remaining are scheduled for this week. They are off to Six Nations on Thursday night to face the Chiefs at 8:00 p.m. This weekend they play a home and home series with the Kitchener Waterloo Kodiaks at Iroquois Park on Saturday July 7, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. and then at Kitchener on Sunday July 8, 2007 also at 7:00 p.m.
