Gaels Move To 4-0 After Winning Home Opener vs. Barrie

The Gaels fell behind early again in this one, a rather frightening scenario for the fans.  However the comebacks are making for some enjoyable nights fanwise for the faithful in attendance. The homeboys spotted the visitors a 3-1 lead after one period of play. They scored early in the second then tied it at the 11:48 mark and never looked back even though the Tornado clawed back to tie the score at 4-4 entering the third.  The third saw the home side outscore the visitors by a 7-2 count to make it 11-6 Gaels at the final buzzer.

Barrie goalie Jeff Hooper was amazing in net despite giving up 11 it could have been higher if not for his outstanding play. At the other end Kalvin Thomas was also equal to the task on many occasions standing firm in the crease taking away a ton of Barrie opportunities. Barrie has a nice team; they can run with the best in the province in this writer’s eyes. The refs let the boys play lacrosse last night and the result was a well played, no crapola ,game by both teams that entertained the 250+ plus fans in attendance .

They get to go at it again on Saturday at the Green Monster on Dunlop Street in Barrie game time is 7pm.The Gaels hit the road on Tuesday with a game in T.O against the Saints before returning home on Thursday the 24th to face the Markham Ironheads.

Notes: Gaels welcomed a new member to the family this week ,as Head Coach Jason Crosbie and wife Jen welcomed baby Jarren to the fold. Nice work guys.  Gaels rookie and Clarington minor product Nick Diachenko seems to be finding his way around Jr. quite well, as he and big rookie sensation Mark Matthews both look great in a Gaels uniform. Take the time to come watch these guys do their thing ,you will be impressed .
