A Dream Trip For Some Young Lacrosse Players….

With the completion of their tryouts and the selections of their teams, the Whitby Minor Lacrosse Novice 1 and Peewee 1 Representative Teams have confirmed their intent to attend the 31st Annual Canada Day Tournament in Calgary, Alberta.

Meetings have been held and fund raising initiatives have begun for both teams.  The Peewee teams efforts include the raffle of an autographed Sidney Crosby jersey certified by Frameworth (along with Blue Jays tickets and other prizes), a night at Casino Rama (May 11) as well as many other ideas.  The two teams are discussing joint ventures and hope to have more as we move into the summer.

All that remains to be done is the insurance / registration with the Ontario Lacrosse Association, confirmation of plane tickets and the two teams are good to go.  A big thank you to Ernie Antonchuk, the tournament organizer for assisting both teams with information, arrangements, and itinerary.

The teams will be attending the three day tournament and play five games against various teams from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Last season Ontario was represented at the Peewee level by the Mimico Mountaineers who won the tournament.

The draw for the Sidney Crosby jersey and other prizes will be held at Iroquois Park on Saturday June 23rd, 2007.  All winners will be contacted and announced right here on the Blog.
