Another weekend and yet another tournament that I’ll be at. This one is the Barry Burman Summer Shootout in Orangeville.
For those a couple of weeks back on the OLA Fan Forum that suggested I speak up prior to any games being played about potential issues in a schedule, okay I will. In three of these four divisions there are 12 teams split into two groups of 6. But in Round Robin play teams only have 4 games, meaning that two teams in each division do not play against each other. That can “potentially” lead to two teams with 4-0 records (or identical records in some way), and one getting in and the other not getting in because of the good old goals for and against formula.
No disrespect intended to the Orangeville scheduler, but I really hope it does not become an issue, as this should not happen again to any team. Let the teams decide who plays on simply by winning games, not a formula where teams need to beat up on others to advance.

How does Halton end up in the Gold Medal game in a 3 way tie? Burlington beat Halton 8-2 not Halton over Buriington 8-2 as repred on the web site. Thanks for updatig the scores

The three way tie was between Guelph, Hamilton, and Halton Hills. They all ended up with a
3-1 record. It ended up like this. Guelph beat Hamilton but lost to Halton Hills. Before this game Guelph had a record of 3-0 and Halton 2-1. In the end Halton won and there record as well as Guelph’s and Hamilton’s were identical. It went down as a three way tie break. The first way to break this was Head-Head. Halton ended up first because they had beat Guelph which Guelph had beat Hamilton. This eliminated Hamilton due to Head-Head. Halton ended up first and Guelph second in their divison.
