The Windsor AKO Fratmen dropped an 11-10 decision to the St. Catharines Spartans on Saturday night in the West division quarter final match-up. The loss leaves the Fratmen up two games to one in the best of five series. Game four of the series will be played back in St. Catharines on Sunday evening. Game time at Merritton Arena is 7:00pm
The Fratmen got off to a great start and jumped out to a 3-0 lead, and led 6-3 after the first period. The Fratmen committed countless unforced turnovers and numerous mental errors which let the Spartans go on a 6-1 run in the second period to take a 9-7 lead into the third period. The Fratmen outscored Spartan 3-2 in the third period, but it was too little too late and the Spartan won 11-10. Spartan outshot Windsor 44-41
Travis Boomer, Brett Hickey, Andrew Ryckman and Jeff Rivait each scored twice for the Fratmen. Singles were added by Devin Humphrey, and D.J. Turner
If a fifth game is required it will be played on Tuesday evening at Forest Glade Arena. Game time is 8:00pm. The winner of this series will face the Six Nations Rebels. That series will open on Friday night in Oshwegen.
