The West Durham Patriots of the Ontario Junior C lacrosse league went on the attack from the opening draw to build a commanding 6-1 lead after the first period over the Shelburne Vet’s tonight at the Pickering Recreation Complex better known as Fort Pickering before the game ended up 9-5 for the Patriots.
The Patriots who are sponsored by the United Employees Credit Union and Canadian Security Solutions came out for the second third periods determined to play tough defence and successded only giving up four goals to the Vet’s over the last two periods.
Scoring was very balanced with eight different players scoring for the Patriots on the night lead by Kenny Burst two goals and Nick Harts three assists. Once again affiliated players from The West Durham Midgets and Toronto Stars Intermediates played an important role with the Patriots having a few regulars out of the line up.
Jason Armstrong got his first home win and third of the young season following a tough loss to the Caledon Bandits on Saturday night in Caledon.
The Patriots next hit the floor next Monday night June 23rd at Fort Pickering versus the Shelburne Vets. Starting at 8 pm

Patty Gregoire broke his collarbone on Saturday night against Caledon and will be out 4-6 weeks.

With the win the Patriots pull two points ahead of Shelburne for third spot in the standings.
