Colley Sets Tone as He Pulls Trigger on First Trade

February 3, 2008
For Immediate Release
Whitby, ON

Brooklin Redmen General Manager, Wayne Colley made a statement this weekend as he finalized his first big trade in his new role. He shipped Luke Forget, Nate Andres and Steve Dietrich to the Kitchener Waterloo Kodiaks in exchange for the Kodiaks 9th, 10th, 16th and 23rd pick in the 2008 Major Series Draft, as well as future considerations.

Colley and Head Coach Peter Vipond will gather with the other six teams at Iroquois Park Sports Centre on Tuesday February 12, 2008 to conduct the Major Series Draft. The Redmen will have the first and fifth pick overall and will watch Kitchener pick second, third and fourth before getting picks 8, 9 and 10. With a large number of graduating Whitby Warriors this year, it is no secret that the Redmen will have a predominantly local flavour on the floor this summer.

As released earlier, the Redmen have already protected their maximum four graduating players in Steve Hutchins, Matt Carroll, Zac Greer and Ian Crashley. Colley hopes that a number of other Warriors are there for him to select in just over a weeks time. The teams also hope to hammer out a draft of a regular season schedule at the same time.
