NLL Season Underway

Well the 2008 National Lacrosse League season is now underway, with the Colorado Mammoth and the Toronto Rock getting their first victories of the season, while the Calgary Roughnecks and the Chicago Shamrox are still looking for theirs.

The Mammoth on the strength of a 6 goal run late in their game topped Calgary 10-9 in their opener on December 29, while the Toronto Rock defeated Chicago on the Shamrox home turf 11-9.  Both games were close ones and if these first two games are any indication, we are in for a dandy season.

It is unfortunate that the Boston and Arizona teams were not successful in putting a team on the floor this year, but if there is one positive it might be for the fans.  With in effect two less teams of players and goalies, the talent pool on a per team basis has risen.  This should provide even more entertainment for the fans.

Be sure to check back later this week, when I will be posting our first “This Week In Lacrosse” video segment.  Our first episode will no doubt contain a lot of discussion and comments on the 2008 NLL season.
